Carly Newson’s Fitness Advice

Body Bar Advice:

‘I use the Body Bar with my clients as its a great piece of equipment that enhances resistance and is fun to use. Making your workouts fun and enjoyable is half the battle! The Body Bar can be used to gain strength, condition, balance and can aid flexibility.
At present, i’m using the Body Bar in my HIIT (high intensity interval training) Classes, i set five different exercises with the bar – 45 seconds on, 15 seconds recovery 4-5 rounds through. It is therefore a great piece of equipment to use within a class environment and one to one personal training or even a home workout session.’

Fitness Advice
‘Varying your workouts and changing up your routine is the key to keeping your body guessing! This is vital if you want to improve and enhance your body as you’re shocking your body into something different so it doesn’t plateau. Regular changes in your workouts are essential for long term growth so make sure you switch up your exercises, increase intensity, introduce drop sets and tempo changes and change the use of equipment! It’s always a challenge to keep your workouts exciting so make sure you spice up your workout!’

Tips to stop overeating at night

We all know when our weak moments are, so it’s best to have a plan to prepare for
them. Arm yourself with an arsenal of healthy distractions.

  • Avoid eating while watching TV
  • Go read a book (away from food)
  • Go for a walk, get some fresh air
  • Tell yourself, ” I don’t have to stick with the plan, I want to!”
  • Picture yourself at your goal, or in your favorite outfit
  • Don’t eat after a certain time (for example, don’t eat after dinner or
  • after 8 p.m.)
  • Don’t put on your comfy clothes until you are going to bed.
  • Brush and floss your teeth
  • Talk to someone on the phone
  • Avoid eating on the run; sit down and eat, savoring your food
  • Don’t eat out of a bag or a package: ever! Set aside one serving for yourself.
  • Consume the calories you need during the day. Don’t go home famished.
  • Make sure you get your sleep. A rested person equals a strong person.
  • Find an evening reward for yourself! Set aside a favorite healthy snack for the evenings, read in bed, a fun, relaxing hobby, a bath, or (my favorite) just go to bed early!

All the tips in the world can help but, in the end, this will all fall back to
self-discipline. Every right choice, no matter how small, will help move you
toward your goal. The more you apply discipline, the easier it gets to do so!

Body Bar Flex: You are what you work out with

A review from Barb Grandison

Flexible but not floppy!

Strong but not rigid!

The Body Bar has opened up a whole new world for me – it creates a different
playing field. Weights are rigid; resistance bands do not keep their shape at all.
The Body Bar Flex has the stand-alone resistance of weights and the flexibility
of a resistance band: It’s the perfect combination. My favorite thing about
the Flex, I can use it to add strength training to an upbeat cardio class without
slowing the tempo.
